Art Quest

A perfect introduction to drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and printing for the older student. Learn to draw and paint what you see and from imagination to understand line, shading, color, composition and more. Create paper sculptures, torn paper collage, learn printing techniques and more!

Drawing
11-14 yrs. Thursdays 4-6pm
For the young artist who loves to draw and wants to explore an array of materials like colored pencils, oil pastels, ink, watercolor and thread. Learn fundamental techniques such as hatching, shading, proportion and composition while developing keen observational skills. A great class for developing a portfolio.

new! Drawing at the Museum
13-18 yrs. Fridays 4-6pm
The Metropolitan Museum of Art offers a wide range of drawing possibilities for the young artist devoping a portfolio.
Various materials will be explored each week while drawing from the collection in different parts of the museum. Students will learn techniques such as contour drawing, shading, hatching and more; all the while developing their observational drawing skills. Museum admission included. Time is split between the museum and a 92Y art center classroom.

Summer Art Quest
This is the perfect summer class for the serious young artist! Learn to draw, paint, make collages, sculpture and prints in the span of just two weeks. Work in the studio and the outdoors in Central Park. Experience trips to local museums like the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Each session culminates in an exciting student art exhibition and reception for family and friends.

Design and paint T-shirts, make felt puppets, decorate totes, make wood sculptures, create paper sculptures, make toy theaters, decorate flowering pots, make fantastical masks, make extravagant party hats ... and more!
• All materials and tools included!
• All materials are pre-cut and are ready to assemble!
• Activities last around 2 hours for up to 12 children.
• All that is needed is a comfortable space with a large table and chairs.
